The conclusion was that TomTom on the N95 was awful.
Last night I discovered that if I remove all the POIs from the N95 map the performance increases. Here is a video showing yesterday's video running alongside a POI-free N95 TomTom (on the right).
So for all of you who do not rely on speed camera warnings (blast!), here's the short-term answer.
I'm sure TomTom will release a new version soon that has better performance on the N95 (bear in mind that the N95 is not yet on TomTom's compatibilty list) and also accommodates the built-in GPS receiver. (more) (less)

mvp indeed. kobe bryant proved himself once again as the league's mvp , and the league's best clutch player , he overcame a bad shooting three quarters , and scored 17 of his 34 points in the last quarter, he carried the lakers on his back , scoring 15 points in the last 6 minutes of the game. he was so pumped up with the crowd who kept cheering his name for mvp whenever he got to the free throw line. lakers played horrible defense in the first 3 quarters and a half, they gave the kings tooo many layups . and easy baskets. but we still won the game .lakers play the clippers next on friday

 Put together by Abba's own Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! manages to cram over 20 of the Swedish supergroup's songs into a threadbare plot. It goes a little like this: Young Sophie is getting married and she's trying to identify which of three men is her father. That's about it. Wisely, the musical doesn't mess around with the songs, save for the insertion of some dialogue or for having some of them performed by a man (it works amazingly well). Abba fans will jump on this import of the London production, but traditional fans of musical theater should consider it as well. Last of the Dogmen
 Despite an irritating, tacked-on voice-over narration that somebody must have thought was necessary to make sense of the story (it wasn't), Last of the Dogmen is actually a very moving and magical film. Tom Berenger plays a Montana bounty hunter who helps an anthropologist (Barbara Hershey) search for the descendants of a Cheyenne tribe who disappeared in the 1870s. What the two find in a remote mountain stretch is an entire community of Cheyenne who have kept themselves cut off from the modern world. A Dances with Wolves parallel emerges as the white outsiders gradually fit in, but Last of the Dogmen stands up just fine without comparison to any other films. As in Kevin Costner's Oscar-winning movie, however, there are ways in which this film captures a similar sense of yearning, mystery, and loss. --Tom Keogh

FernGully - The Last Rainforest
 Environmentally friendly animated film with a strong message that doesn't club anyone over the head--but it certainly can't be missed. Zak (voiced by Christian Slater) is a heavy-machine operator whose job is to push over any vegetation in his path. He's shrunken to wee size, however, when Crysta (Samantha Mathis), a fairy of the forest, not only finds him cute but wants him to see the results of his handiwork. They end up battling Hexxus, an evil force imprisoned in a tree, which now wants to destroy all of Ferngully. Robin Williams offers genuine comic relief as a bat named Batty Koda. Agreeable without making much impact, it's a piffle of a film for one that deals with such strong subject matter. --Keith Simanton
